While at Berea College, I was fortunate to take the Introduction to Design and Production in Woods taught by Gary Mahoney. In this class, I learned about many different types of woods and their properties, about design and production processes, working with a client I would be designing for, cost analysis, how to use a wealth of machinery including a CNC Techno Router, and how to use software such as Autodesk Inventor, MasterCam, and more. However, the thing that brought me the most joy was creating this fretless electric guitar; hence the name Freedom engraved into the fretboard. It took me a little over a month to build Freedom's body including the initial design steps. I ordered and placed the metal components as I went through the manufacturing process. There were mistakes made along the way, but by the end of the class, I had a beautiful guitar. During the summer after the class, I put in all the electronic components.
