Inspired by GRACE, I petitioned my advisor to let me design and build a miniature gliding robotic fish to test algorithms in a laboratory setting. Building the robot, I utilized my skills in computer-aided design, electronics, and PCB design. In addition, I wrote interface software to control the robot and simplify the process of implementing the algorithms I designed for my research and algorithms that future students may write. After completing the original prototype, I was able to pass some of these skills along by mentoring two undergraduate students who had been given the task to replicate my original design with a few modifications I suggested.
